Courage to Purge and Release!
This is the last eclipse in the Scorpio-Taurus axis for the next ~18.5 years. Solar eclipse occurs when the Moon positioned between Earth and Sun, such that Moon’s shadow cast on Earth blocks Sun’s light. Have you pondered how is it possible that the Moon, a much smaller object in sky can cover disc of the entire Sun, an enormous star in our sky? What leads to this optical illusion? In the recent lunar eclipse, we had exalted Moon joint Rahu in Krittika, Taurus. It allowed for beautiful manifestations & life-affirming structures to unfold as the energy of Taurus stabilizes the capricious nature of Moon. For the solar eclipse on 12/4, Moon (our mind) will be debilitated in the sign of Scorpio – meaning you’ll experience more wavering, unsteady, less grounded & darker emotional patterns. You can either choose the escapist route – which is numb everything that’s coming up for you with distractions like alcohol, TV, Netflix, video gaming, getting stoned, sex, indulgence in food, sleeping, surface gossip etc. -or- you can tap into your hidden courage & face the root cause of your triggers, insecurities, feeling of unsafety and lack of control. Yes, I did say ‘hidden courage’ because that’s Ketu’s secret superpower. Ketu is what’s joint Sun & Moon, eclipsing the Sun. In the last week, as we have marched towards this solar eclipse, a lot of dark triggers have come up for people – manifesting as emotional upheaval. If you stay on the surface, it may only appear as resentment; that’s Ketu’s outward façade. If you allow it, Ketu will take that heat generated, & transform it to discipline & courage required to keep drilling deep into unchartered parts of our psyche – ultimately liberating us from all that is weighing us down. Is it scary? Yes! But like my teacher, Anand Mehrotra says (paraphrasing): It is too much to ask to not be afraid; courage is embarking on the journey despite all your fears. Mars being only a few degrees away from Ketu, albeit in Libra, aids for this kind of heroic courage. Jyestha (exact starspace/nakshatra of this eclipse) is also associated with enormous valor. The story of Indra, king of devas, allowing himself to be swallowed by a dragon who drank all of Earth’s water, only to rip the dragon’s stomach from inside to return water back to Earth, unfolds in this nakshatra.
You can already see the collective fear that has emerged with the Omicron variant, where you are reminded of your vulnerability, lack of control, & looming death, suffering, pain, loss, grief, disappointments & abandonment. Each one of us is experiencing a flavor of this energy in our lives. In my case, I am facing stark disappointments & constant abandonment of the family structures I grew up in. It’s not surprising because a couple of weeks ago, I set my intention to create a community and a family that I can finally call home. So, everything that is blocking this manifestation is being brought to my attention – that which I need to purge & release. What is it that you are willing to release to manifest your highest dharmic life?
Remember, the most courageous humans are not the warriors that have fought & won wars, but those that have conquered inner tribulations. You may not get an opportunity like this for next ~18.5 years
