The lull you are feeling for a few weeks – this time around you can blame on Saturn retrograde (SaR) instead of Mercury. Saturn is the slowest moving planet in our sky. So, when it turns retrograde, it slows down even further, goes almost stationary for a few weeks before it gains its regular momentum back. Of course, retrograde is an apparent motion – an optical illusion. When planets turn retrograde, they are not only closer to Earth in space, they also tend to make us backup in our psyches & to introspect/reflect more on the principles they teach. Saturn (Sa) is the teacher of limitations in our lives – we only have so much time, energy, money, breath & life. Through its restrictions Sa builds pressure to teach us to prioritize, slow down, commit only to things or people that matter, be consistent, & always be aware of consequences
.
The entire time Sa is moving from Aquarius (Aq) back into Capricorn (Cap), it is in the starspace of Dhanistha – symbolized by Damaru, Shiva’s drum & ruled by the eight Vasus. Dhanistha bridges Aq & Cap. This period of SaR reminds us to tune into rhythms of life – rhythms that make life a dance – whether you actually can dance or not. These rhythms is what dictates creation, manifestation & destruction. Reflect upon the Nataraj; Shiva dancing blissfully on apasmara (ignorant demon) with his damaru & fire in hand. The fire that Shiva carries creates an illuminated sphere of fire around him as he dances. Like Nataraj, we are reminded to integrate anything meted to us during SaR & make it a part of our daily routines or rhythms. So, the limitations you feel with Sa, instead of resisting it – make it a part of your life & work with it. Surrender to restrictions imposed rather than fight it. In that surrender, you’ll eventually learn greater humility. And from that humbled self you may get a glimpse of that grander picture in which you & I are just a speck of dust; a significant speck yet just a speck. Once you perceive your role in the big schema, resentment & agony naturally drops away – forgiveness automatically sets in. For forgiveness & letting go is not an active process, it is an automatic or passive by-product of active surrender & awareness. As Sa retrogrades, I would encourage you to ask the Universe about what little role you are playing in this lifetime; what’s the movie you are a part of – and then let the answers come to you. When you recognize the answers that emerge, integrate that into your daily life – not easy if you are limited by looming death (but still do-able)
