This Full Moon in Leo, we have the Sun in Aquarius illuminating the Moon directly opposite it in the constellation of Purva Phalguni (PP) in Leo. The energy of this full moon is very layered & it will neet you where you are in your relationship to power. To understand this energy we need to look at the triad of nakshatras in Leo that PP is a part of. PP comes after Magha & is followed by Uttara Phalguni (UP). Magha is ruled by Pitris or our ancestors – those who came before us to pave the path to our success / evolution or our kingdom – however you define your own kingdom. We are the Pitris for those who’ll come after us, paving the way to their kingdom. Magha progresses into the next constellation PP where we delight in our kingdom. PP is ruled by the deity Bhaga, the god of delight. In PP we are offered the opportunity to delight in our power as the king or an authority. UP follows PP where the king is put to work to get his state/kingdom in order

Bhaga is one of the Adityas (Sun gods) that got his eye gouged out by Shiva for winking at his comrades to make fun of Sati & her choice of husband (Shiva). Sati felt so humiliated at that court that she jumped into the holy fire & burnt alive. You see, Bhaga was one of the powerful gods. He delighted in that power, enjoying its perks & colluding with others who took pleasure in their power. The power that Bhaga enjoyed above all was the power to dominate others by trying to make them feel small & less than – the way he behaved with Sati at the court. That’s why he got his eyes gouged
.
True power is an inside job that doesn’t require others to collude to grab it (especially using sensual pleasures). True power also doesn’t delight in dominance over others, instead takes pleasure in serving others. Sun in Aquarius opposite the Moon in PP, reminds us that true enjoyment of power lies in serving humanitarian causes & not in the self-interested possession of it. Shouldn’t that how the governments of the world & leaderships of organizations (the Kings of today) be?
Is delighting in power bad or adharmic? Delight in inner power is higher expression of PP as well as Leo – the kind of inner power that ignites & illuminates your Dharmic path. Delight in external power leads us astray. At the end of the day, it is not power that corrupts; power only magnifies who you already are. Power magnifies the light in you & also the dark by many fold. If you have a dysfunctional relationship with power, this full moon will highlight that dysfunction – as Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury in Capricorn, placed 6th from the Moon in Leo, will create power struggles. Magha reminds us that the king (or queen) is a king whether crowned or not. The higher expression of PP aids the uncrowned king to delightfully & authentically embrace his inner power so that he can evolve into a king that truly serves the affairs of kingdom in UP. Whatever area of life Leo represents in your chart, that area of life is where light enters & illuminates your being.

On a side note, notice your tendencies to indulge in sensual pleasures on & around this full moon – be it food, sex, expressing affection, excessive shopping, spa treatment, perfumes etc
