New Moon (NM) in Capricorn (Cap) mapped to the starspace Shravana sets off a cycle that requires us to tap into the subliminal energies. Cap as such is a practical, structured sign rooted in a version of fear that makes us look for everything that can go wrong & be ready with Plan B. Shravana is the only nakshatra completely within Cap. Shravana ruled by Vishnu is symbolized by an ear – reminding us to listen. Most people do not even know what listening truly is. The stories of Vishnu in his avatars exemplifies how one can intently listen. Ponder on the stories of Krishna-Sudama, Krishna-villagers of Gokul, Krishna-Arjuna, Krishna-Draupadi, Ram-Hanuman, Vishnu-Laxmi, Vishnu-Narada, amongst others – & focus on how Vishnu intently listens in order to ripen what’s in each one of these character’s heart. So while, Cap is the practical sign, it is symbolized by a crocodile that moves slowly on land but is majestic in water; denoting the importance of letting go & surrendering after you have done your due diligence. Shravana smack in the middle of Cap also reminds us of the same – put out your intentions, let it go & listen to rhythms of life for your answers

Shiva-Parvati relationship also evolved thro’ asking questions & listening to answers. A true conversation constitutes intently listening & not just speaking at the other person. This is a good time to practice ‘speaking to’ versus ‘speaking at’ – the difference being listening. If you are courageous enough to be a bit more vulnerable, start intently listening in your meditations – just let go & receive the substratum of sound beneath all the mantras & breathing

In a more practical sense, you can channel this energy by listening to high quality audiobooks, chants/mantras/music of a higher vibration, satsangs, puranic stories, the Bhagvad Gita or your religious text, amongst other things – you get the picture

There are many energies that are nudging us to recalibrate – Venus-Mars close conjunction from Sagittarius to Cap, Mercury retrograde (about to go direct) in Cap, Saturn-Sun combustion in Cap – all of which require us to dial in by actually listening
